Painting 4 / Laurel Canyon

Hi Michael,

I have no idea how to Twitter, but I wanted you to know how much I love your painting (which is now hanging in my living room). My friend and I go on adventures in L.A. and take photos of things we see, including street Art (you can check us out on www.streetwalkers2.wordpress.com). We practically got into an accident (not really) trying to stop on Laurel Canyon to take a photo of your Art. My friend loved it so much she took it down to give to me (I spotted it) and we read your instructions on the back. What a wonderful idea. I wish you much success in your career. I’ve bookmarked your website so we can keep up to date on your progress.

I’ve already sent my donation to St. Jude. It was my pleasure.

Sincerely,

Susan

About

Avatar I did four paintings measuring 24x36" on Sunday, August 12th and tacked them to trees in Los Feliz, Fairfax, Laurel Canyon and Hollywood. Since I was posting original paintings on the street, I thought maybe people might take them and keep them ... or at least look at some writing on the back before throwing them into the trash. So, on the backs of the paintings, I asked for donations of $25 made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and I left contact information for people to let me know if they took em and did. I signed and numbered all of the paintings, so they are catalogued and collectible.

I had an encouraging response and enjoyed the whole experience.

On the morning of Wednesday, August 15, I did sixteen paintings with spray paint measuring 12x18" and set to hanging them on trees throughout Los Angeles in Hollywood, West Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, Beverly Hills and Laurel Canyon. On the backs of the paintings, I asked for donations of $25 made to St. Jude's, the Los Angeles Mission and the Downtown Women's Center that cares for women on skid row in downtown LA.

I love doing this.
